My host parents took me to a little town about an hour outside of Puebla where they mine and work with marble and granite. I got to see one of the largest stores selling the marble and granite work as well as visit the oldest convent in the country of Mexico. Along the way we even stopped for “piñas” which literally means pineapple but turns out to be a pineapple carved out and filled with authentic piña coladas. As we drove along towards our destination sipping rum out of huge fruits I couldn’t help but think how different it is here than in America. Thanks to the generosity of my host parents I am getting to see all sides of the country and culture, for which I cannot be thankful enough.
